Rich snippets effect on Google's knowledge graph

Here's a great article by AJ Kohn looking into the rich snippet algorithm

It's a must read and has lots of great finding but I found particularly eye-opening is how knowledge graph is built based on rich snippets

In some instances rich snippets are being deprecated in lieu of Knowledge Panels (such as music: Screenshot #1) while other times rich snippets provide access to prime Knowledge Panel real estate (such as books: Screenshot #2).

[Screenshot #1] lost "music rich snippet" and the same info is now appearing in the Knowledge Graph:

lost rich snippets
