Story Text:

It really doesn't get much stranger. The UK has it's first Jedi MP

as the first Jedi Member of this place, I look forward to the protection under the law that will be provided to me by the Bill

As a Star Wars Fan..

As a fan myself it's hard to say this, but Star Wars fans as a whole might be the craziest bunch out there. You should see the emails my customer service team has to answer regarding Star Wars merchandise. For instance, I think we've had 15 or so chargebacks; because, the customer's lightsaber was a toy. The people actually believe lightsabers exist, and one only costs $19.95.

Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

ok - I admit

I may be on the census form as a Jedi :)

So, let me get this

So, let me get this straight, your telling me that the Lightsaber I ordered is not real! What a bunch of Wookie Doo.

>>>Jedi Member of Parliment

I thought the US had the strangest Politicians, guess I was wrong.

The joke for the uninitiated..

In the 2001 census in the UK, you had to legally answer all questions truthfully on pain of vast fines..

.. however there was a "religion" question, which because of sensitivities on the subject (eg Northern Ireland) was made voluntary..

..therefore a large number of people chose to write "Jedi" against it. This BBC report shows 390,000 stated their religion as Jedi - I am proud to say I am amongst those.
