Google is testing a new format for the front page that pushes organic results so far down the page that they're almost off of it. The feature Google is testing is a set of three "top news stories" related to your query. This article is about how the local 3-pack is pushed down the page by the new test...but, tangentially, you can see in the screenshots that organic results are WAY far down. Further down than I would ever expect on a search engine. It's a little infuriating, really.
Is that the future - organic results so neglected that they're basically an afterthought to Google's latest test...or paid search? I suppose it's not worth freaking out about, since this is just a test. But still - it's not a good test, in my opinion.
