He beat me to it
I was thinking about this same thing the other day and had been meaning to write about it somewhere, but just never got around to it.
It seems to be happening more and more all over the net. Most of the time it's not a problem as different aspects get discussed in different places. But sometimes it gets boring seeing the same threads, articles, press reports over and over again at different places.
Part of the reason why I stick to only a couple of forums.
Part of the reason why I
and why longterm it is best to be one of the few channels everyone goes to.
...it is best to be one of
Assuming there are places everyone goes to, sure. Or at least everyone who's anyone.
Jill
I see it in our circles, but I rarely see it practiced outside of SEM/SEO websites. Don't you agree ?
Disney
I see it all the time in the Disney boards/blogs I read. The stuff goes round and round no matter who "scooped" the story. It's hard to keep up sometimes as people cross post to comments in one place on another.
Beats me!
Couldn't say WP, I have no life and pretty much only read stuff about SEM/SEO!
The Web 2.0 crazy bloggers
The Web 2.0 crazy bloggers are like this too from what I see - threadjacking is everywhere. It's actually hard sometimes to find a new item to write about - I make an entry in the morning, then surf around and find Nick, Danny, Barry and Aaron are all covering it, too...
Then again, when something of mine gets linked to, I like everybody to link to it :) So it's not all sour grapes!
Not just SEO/SEM
The techy stuff gets recycled and regurgitated but there are less original sources.
...
well aside from google issuing three stories a day there actually aren't that many original stories around are there? If we're all only going to cover unique ones then we'll have to do one a day each and agree to alternate on Mondays.....
but
Its not just unique stories. You can do it to a thread in a forum for instance that has a lot of discussion. Its not what the topic is, its the act of appealing to the people that are discussing it to link to you and discuss it on your site.
