Cult of the Amateur

Nicholas Carr, and Om Malik are both talking about the cult of the amateur that is Web2.0 It's a great discussion that starts with the link(bait) above and continues with Om's Web 2.0, Community & the Commerce Conundrum. One of the main points is that we're back, a la bubble2.0 to thinking business models aren't important and that "mashups" are a valuable service/endeavor. This clearly isn't so.

I've spoken with a few bloggers recently and come face to face with this mentality, folks absolutely breathless with enthusiasm over things that just arent rooted in solid ground. It's fun, but if you've got a bit of a mean streak like me, it'll be more fun watching this bubble burst...

There is no good single quote from either piece, read them, they're good..
