[adv] What would online advertising be like in a perfect world?

6 comments

In a perfect world of online advertising, what could be better than the ability to advertise on every site that is out there using one provider, one model and prices that are solely determined by public demand?

With this idea in mind, BidVertiser was launched in August 2004.

Site-Targeted or keyword-targeted?
Many tend to think that BidVertiser is a contextual advertising network. It is not. BidVertiser uses a site-targeted advertising model. We believe that the best approach is to allow advertisers to place ads directly on sites of their choice, having the ability to track down the ROI of each site independently.

When using contextual advertising, however, it is harder to track ROI down to level of the actual website, while keywords may not perform the same on every site.

CPC, CPM or flat fee?
We chose CPC over CPM and flat fee, as it is our preferred way to insure that our advertisers will pay only for the traffic they are looking for. Using BidVertiser, they have two levels of filtering before any charges are applied: The first is having the ad displayed on a specific site that they found appropriate and the second is being charged only for clicks generated by the website visitors that found the ad appealing.

$25 in Free Credits

Theadwatch members click here to get up to $25 in free clicks!

We would very much like to hear your thoughts about this model and its chances to succeed in a world that is not as perfect as the one we all hope for.

Only sites that sign up to your system right?

For me the best advertising system would
* not be interuption based
* only target people who are really interested and ready to convert
* have excellent tracking
* would be extremely cost effective
* allow for experimentation
* be hands off or hands on depending on my mood
* most of all give lots and lots of quality traffic with great ROI

Late reply to Chris

I'll try to address each of the points that Chris referred to:

* Only sites that sign up to your system right?
-> Our advertisers can only place their ads on sites that are part of our network, of course. This perfect world is not here yet...

* not be interruption based
-> I'm not sure what this means, perhaps the format of the ads? Well, if this is the case, BidVertiser serves text ads that blend into the publisher website.

* only target people who are really interested and ready to convert
-> BidVertiser has two levels of targeting - the first is having the ad displayed on a specific site that the advertiser found appropriate and the second is that charges are only made for clicks generated by the website visitors that found the ad appealing. You can also add to it our geographic targeting that will allow you to show your ads only to people from the countries you have selected.

* have excellent tracking
-> Our advertisers have access to detailed reporting and can track their ads down to the level of the specific website, including impressions, clicks and cost. Detailed information is also added to the Referrer header when each click is generated to help advertisers that track their web server logs.

* would be extremely cost effective
-> When you have the right control of your ads and budget, and the right tracking - it becomes very simple to adjust the ads, their creative and target sites to maximize ROI.

* allow for experimentation
-> Threadwatch members can now experiment BidVertiser with a $25 of free funds that will be added to their account after signup. No need to spend a dime.

* be hands off or hands on depending on my mood
-> Pausing the ads is as simple as clicking the "Pause" button in the advertiser control panel.

* most of all give lots and lots of quality traffic with great ROI
-> Well this simply summarizes it all, isn't it?

Chris, i have asked them to

Chris, i have asked them to respond to your comment.

Also, you do not have to spend any money to get those $25 in free clicks, they're just free.

interruption based

Yes it is an ad format question, kind of. By interruption I mean it shouldnt get in the way of what the visitor wanted. These popups, eyeblasters, intersitials, etc. You go to a site or page and instead of getting the page you expected you get some "crazy wack-a-mole game". There is always an ammount of distraction involved but it is not good business to show something *instead of* your site :O) Glad to hear your advertising isn't like this.

By hands off I mean I could ignore it for two days and it not cost me thousands of dollars. There is always a worry that your campaign could become ineffective or expensive if you are not watching it four times a day.

Has anyone used this yet?

It looks like this ad term

It looks like this ad term is up.

Will let it run for one more day in case there are any more questions or Bidvertiser wants to answer any of the previous ones.
