Is There Money in Your RSS Feed?

Erick Schonfeld of Business 2.0 writes about monetization opportunities in digital media. The article essentially advocates embedding monetization opportunities in the media you create, and then distributing that as far and wide across the net as possible. He sides with Fred Wilson's vision of how RSS should be used:

He also argues that RSS should be treated as a new medium. People who try to use RSS to drive traffic back to a Website won't do as well as people who give all of their content away for free in their feeds (not just an excerpt or a clip) and embed ads into each microchunk of content.

I'm skeptical, since there are already RSS aggregators that block ads, but I wonder if the article's big idea of focusing on decentralizing distribution of your content is where future revenue streams in digital media reside.
