Amazing How Stupid People Think You Are...

Barely a day goes by where this place isn't spammed by some idiot that either clearly thinks me and the other members here are all idiots, or is so far down the evolutionary ladder that they just really think they're being dead smart.

It's amazing really, and as long as I don't get too many, i actually rather like it. It reminds me that, at the end of the day, regardless of whatever happens in my life, at least im not this stupid...

I have been using Google Adsense, my website was showing lots of public service ad (PSA), I found a useful website, I Cant Even Do Real HTML:
http:/**/somestupidarsewipe.com
There I could utilize the ad resources instead of wasting them.
Anyone else is using this website?

Oh boy! Thanks ever so much for the heads up on that piece of monkey shit website mate! How could i have gone this long online without it?

heh...

reminds me...

adsense are doing section targetting now.

Quote:
Section targeting allows you to suggest sections of your text and HTML content that you'd like us to emphasise or downplay when matching ads to your site's content. By providing us with your suggestions, you can assist us in improving your ad targeting.

so we don't need to using that website anyway now ;)

I get so many ridiculous e-mail solicitations...

...that when I get an actual sensible link request or "did you know about this site...?" note written by someone with an IQ over 42, I am appreciative and take notice.

My fav mail barrage as of late, however, is coming from desperate people asking me to be their sugar mummy. I am not kidding. I posted an incredulous note on my blog joking about a really bad Nigerian spam note asking if I'd be their sugar mummy... and as a result, I've gotten a bunch of comments and a handful of e-mails a week requesting sugar mummyness.

Okay, so perhaps that's only tangentially related to your original note, but IMHO it is along the same lines of just how amazingly stupid people can be...

Sometimes it's hard to tell

Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between bad self-seo and clever seo-sabotage.

Gee...how clever

Sometimes I really think that they believe they're just so clever to have thought of a way of getting noticed. They have no idea that they're not the first to be so "smart."

We had one of those tag team ones last week. Where some idiot newly registered member asks a question about where to find a certain tool that does a certain thing. And then 2 mins. later, another newly registered member (with the same IP of course) answers it with a handy dandy URL.

When

When random_Joe_bedroom_bandit does it, you can kinda appreciate their position - neither a budget nor a clue on how to market a site. But when multinationals try it (badly)....that's just embarassing!

That is sad that someone

That is sad that someone with a budget of a multinational does it. PR, Marketing, all this guerilla/buzz junk it is all shades of same thing.

Got to love the sugarmommy spam though..

On our site we have a huge problem with Nigerian spam. It gets pretty ridiculous at times, they will bid $1000 on an $1 item in hopes for the fake WU money order scam. Or even better, someone will bid $500 on a $0.50 virtual mobile pic and then ask if it can be shipped to Nigeria.. I really feel sorry for an honest Nigerian attempting to buy something at an online auction.

Oh, and how do we deal with it? A lot of banning based on filters, basically. Have not had one complaint about a ban from a honest user yet, but I do dread the day when it happens.
