Bill Clinton to Run Microsoft?

This one is so out there I can't see how it could possibly be true, but rumors floating around the CES show hint at the possibility

There are some rumors circulating that Steve Ballmer is about to step aside at Microsoft as its day to day operations head to make room for another president. Ken and I reported on this on KenRadio's World Technology Roundup earlier today.

Bill Clinton.

Here's what I know. Sources near Microsoft headquarters report that over the past few months the ex cigar smoking prexy has made trips to Microsoft headquarters and has been interviewing for the top slot as the company looks at ways to transform themselves for the future. Given the global implications of technology, having a leader that is an ex country president would be massive.

Now even if this isn't true you gotta give them credit for a damn great bit of link bait

Just imagine the presentations

When Clinton demos a new MS imaging tool and shows how easy it is to remove stains from pictures of blue dresses - priceless

Why not Al Gore?

After all, he did invent the t'internet..

Bill C's pretty involved with Accoona though isn't he? I'm not sure if that means he knows what he's doing or he's more likely to be negotiation a sale but I just thought I'd throw it in the mix....

That source is backing off..

..and now says, perhaps its not Clinton for Chairman, just a director

UPDATE--Some readers and other sources say Bill's visits to Redmond have had more to do with being on the Microsoft board than anything else...stay tuned

Seems that Clinton stopped by for lunch, and conclusions, correct or otherwise are being drawn from that.

What's funny is that the

What's funny is that the demographics show Google is overwhelmingly "blue state" and MSN is slightly more "red state" (so is Yahoo!). If a "blue state" guy takes over a "red state" search property, will the reds switch to Google?

Probably means nothing, but I wonder if it would hurt the very cozy relationship MS has with government regulators under the current administration.
