Google and Dell Co-Branded Home Page

Google who already has a co-branded homepage for firefox took the next step and created a co-branded page with Dell. Story posted by Phillip Lessen:

Got a dell today. Besides the usual AOL drivel it had installed by default, it had Google Toolbar, GDS, and an interesting start page. It’s iGoogle with dell formatting. This is interesting also because Dell UK agreed to include Firefox on some of its PCs.

It looks like an extension of the personalized Google home page with some extra special parts thrown in. The adverts look kind of cheesy but wonder if this is what they hinted about with allowing AOL banners.

MyWay was the default home page on the Dell machines I bought over the last year.

Internet Search Holdings cheaply bought search partnerships when few realized the value of search. They struck a deal with Ask to sell MyWay and others for 343 million right around SES NYC 2004, but the actual buy price was closer to 500 million due to a run up in Ask's share price.
