"This is a hard decision," said Mr Gates, adding that he was not retiring but "reordering [his] priorities."

Seems a bit like a politician stepping down to "spend more time with his family"

I guess the money/job does

I guess the money/job does not do it for him anymore. Although M$ is evil ( just bought another 3 pc's with legal software) I like the charity work he is doing with his foundation. Although it would be interesting to compare his environmental impact on the planet with the good he is doing now.

Microsoft is evil?

Nah, Bill just had an aggressive way of doing business, hope he'll have the same energy doing something else :)

Sniff Sniff

I will miss the old fellah but M needs to make an Mplex fast and get some young blood making the bigger decisions soon!

Charity Work

Whether you like him or not, his charity has done some incredible things. I heard him speak on the future of it and some of his goals are quite impressive.

Ahem

Ladies and Gentlemen may I draw your attention to prediction 8-65

no getting picky and saying the dates wrong, OK? :)

a billion here a billion there

Warren Buffet to donate ~ 30 billion to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Buffett has pledged to gradually give 85% of his Berkshire stock to five foundations. A dominant five-sixths of the shares will go to the world's largest philanthropic organization, the $30 billion Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, whose principals are close friends of Buffett's.

Up to now, the two Gateses have been the only trustees of their foundation. But as his plan gets underway, Buffett will be joining them.
