Google Checkout: No Direct Influence on Adwords Quality Score Algorithm


I had an interview this evening with Benjamin Ling, Product Lead for Google Checkout. Ben stated unambiguously that the checkout icon (”badge”) had no impact on the AdWords Quality Score algorithm. That is, Ben stated Google does not “cook” AdWords rankings to promote Checkout merchants. “The algorithm was not altered in any way,” he stressed.

I think that little green cart next to your ad helps the CTR though.

The very fact that it got mentioned already makes me want to think otherwise. Is it just me or?


Are they stupid or do they think we're stupid? Of course people are more likely to click the ad with the little green cart next to it, I mean like duh ...

If you're using the cart they also know your conversion rate and actually would have enough data to make a more reliable "judgment" about how relevant your page is ...
