Google Quality Raters Leaving Footprints

From SE Roundtable:

Some people are noticing Google referrals from search strings that look like:

https://www.google.com/evaluation/search/rating/task-edit?task=XXXXXX

This comes from Google's http://eval.google.com/ which only available to those part of the "EWOQ group."

Numerous friends have mentioned they have felt a recent strong uptick in manual editing.

My friend freaking got kicked outta adsense after seeing that

This guy I know got nailed for God knows what after seeing a few of those referrals.

They said that that there was an image up there that was copyrighted.

canned for ONE image?

You sure that's the full story, Nick?

Just another small clue

Just another small clue supporting the hypotheses regarding Google's new spam control methods.

Timing

So did anyone who's seeing these footprints also happened to be affected by the adwords quality score?

All the more reason to make

All the more reason to make your black hat sites look as white hat as possible.

You sure that's the full story

Never 100% sure... I know the site.. but I was told about a month after this all happened with him.. so I only have the information he gave to me.. and not knowing what changes took place between when I was told and when this happened.

even to non adsense sites

happened to me as well, saw the footprints, quite a few times, all testing the same domain and getting a few pages deeper browsing at the site,I assume it was some king of DCMA (that i never got), the site does not run adsense but the text there may be showing some trademarked terms

I saw it too and I don't run

I saw it too and I don't run either Adsense, Adwords or anything from Google. Maybe they are just checking out automated flags that come up about any site in a crawl, although I can't imagine why my site would get flagged since it's pretty WH.

mmmmm

the original eval. stuff seemed to indicate that specific industries were targetted for manual review - perhaps they're expanding that, or letting students check random searches of their choice occasionally?

Brad didn't some scumbag scrape your directory? Could even be they picked up on that and are having a look?

Yes. Scumbag. Scraped.

It is possible that is it, as both have occurred about the same time, and the scraped directory appears to be made for Adsense. Maybe it raised a dupe content flag. Dunno.

Ewoks. I'm not surprised to find them working at Google.

I believe these URL

I believe these URL referrals have come from AdSense quality checkers in the past. Not sure if it is only used for AdSense or if it covers other areas of Google as well.

It's a bunch of kids who are

It's a bunch of kids who are fed queries all day long. They log in, blow through some queries, smoke more weed, and then spend the rest of their day playing Xbox.

One of our employees has some friends in the Bay Area doing it. I'm currently trying to buy each of them a new car and/or subject them to waterboarding.
