Digg Takes Forever to Promote Virginia Tech Shooting to Front Page

Goes to show how slow Digg is : "To my surprise it was Newsvine that had the story already as the most active out on their front page. Digg, for all its fame around "fast" news, didn't have it on the first two pages. Netscape & Reddit were both minus the story as well at the time of this posting either."

not slow - selective.

All you need to do is flip on the tv to depressing terror inducing news.

i'd rather divert my selective attention too something that entertains my ADD addled short attention span for 2.5 minutes.

I would bank on that type of news hitting reddit and netscape first nearly EVERY time.

record time

> it usually takes at least several hours for something to make the home page at Digg

3 hours is my best time, but usually takes much longer. But this is an example where human are faster, although I bet Google news probably had it much quicker than Digg.

Netscape

Netscape had it there within minutes, as I recall. Netscape Navigators are able to promote stuff to the home page very quickly if need be.

Digg obviously doesn't have human editors that can promote things to the home page quickly...from what I can tell, it usually takes at least several hours for something to make the home page at Digg.
