Apple Might Just Let Go of Google as Their Default Search Engine

Not too long ago Firefox broke news that they were dropping Google as their default search provider and moving on to a five year partnership with Yahoo. Now granted, when Firefox upgraded and the change became a reality, I quickly switched back and continued on my merry way. But what if this has started a trend?

A recent post in Search Engine Land form Greg Sterling predicts that Apple might also hop on the same train as Firefox. Last year Apple was running a web crawler and many thought it to be more than just them crawling mobile sites and shortly thereafter Apple was seeking a backend operations manager to work on a search platform. Is this the year Apple breaks from Google too and iSearch launches or does Marissa Mayer's desire for Yahoo to become the default continue the train.
