Not too long ago Firefox broke news that they were dropping Google as their default search provider and moving on to a five year partnership with Yahoo. Now granted, when Firefox upgraded and the change became a reality, I quickly switched back and continued on my merry way. But what if this has started a trend?
A recent post in Search Engine Land form Greg Sterling predicts that Apple might also hop on the same train as Firefox. Last year Apple was running a web crawler and many thought it to be more than just them crawling mobile sites and shortly thereafter Apple was seeking a backend operations manager to work on a search platform. Is this the year Apple breaks from Google too and iSearch launches or does Marissa Mayer's desire for Yahoo to become the default continue the train.
