Yahoo - Redirect Handling will be Working in Two Weeks

Thread Title:
My Chat With Yahoo! Search & Co.
Thread Description:

Direct from Barry Schwartz who is ringside at the WebmasterWorld Show listening as I write to Tim Mayer from Yahoo! speaking on one of the panels.

Redirect Handling By Yahoo. All this stuff should be working ok in two weeks. Redirects from one domain to another will index the "target" rather then the "source". Meta Redirects: > 1 sec treated as a 301, < 1 sec is treated as a 302. Redirects internal will keep the source as the main link. This was launched Tuesday night, and you should see stuff happening shortly. This should fix all the issues discussed in the forums.

That quote is from msg 5

Remember where you heard it second! hehe...

Great reporting by Rustybrick. I always like reading his convention coverage.

So, this is saying that if the redirect is within the website, that the original (now incorrect) URL will stand?

Redirects: To clarify

Permanent Redirects within a domain: Yahoo! keeps the “source”, if it is a root, and the “target” if the redirect is between deep pages.

Thanks TIm!

Thanks for the clarification Tim, my apologies for missing this post!

any known progression reported from Yahoo! ?

Changes in progress

It will take a few weeks to be fully implemented but much of the index will have changed already. GoLinks have you noticed any positive changes to your sites yet?

Hello Tim

I've noticed a slight change on few pages, but most of the redirect update is yet not seen on Yahoo! rp's

Well if you dont notice a positive change in the next couple of weeks. Send me some examples in forum mail and I will look into those specific cases.
