Ad Impressions Nearly Doubled Year Over Year


MediaPost reports that ad impressions have doubled since March of 2005, with Nielsen//NetRatings AdRelevance claiming that 187 billion ads were served this past month. Email is allegedly the big ad server, showing over 42% of all online ad impressions, with search and portals accounting for 9.2%.

The single most popular site was Yahoo Mail, drawing 30.3 percent of all online ad impressions--up fourfold from last year's 7.8 percent. MySpace came in second, with 15.6 percent--marking a fourfold increase from last year's 3.8 percent. MSN Hotmail garnered 10 percent of impressions, compared to 7.8 percent last year.

Impressions may be rising for these properties, especially email sites....but CTR?
